Our supported practice evenings are a great chance to practice your Tango, get some advice, or perhaps have some private tuition. There's no need to book, just put a note in your diary and come along with your dance shoes! Everyone is very welcome; beginners and experts.
Baldwin Hall is a charming venue with a large dance floor and lots of space for everyone! There is free parking in the public car park outside the hall.
Special evenings
From time to time we invite musicians to play live music for us.
The next evening with live music will be Wednesday 28th July, when renowned Tango guitarist & singer Oscar Acebras will play for us.
Music selection
At the Eton Practicas we play mainly a selection of traditional Tango music. We also play music to practice dancing Tango Milonga and Tango Vals. After 10:40pm we play more modern Tango music.
What's the difference between practice nights and dance nights?
Practice time should not be confused with dance nights (Milongas)!
Milongas are for enjoyable dances with our partners. We don't criticise each other at Milongas or give unsolicited advice, or give feedback if it is anything other than positive. At Milongas we concentrate on our connection with our partner and the music. We don't work on improving a new move that we learnt yesterday!
Practice evenings are for developing your Tango, and so it is common to repeat and develop just one movement or idea, and stop and ask for your partner's feedback (a serious faux pas in a milonga). It is advisable to choose a partner who is willing to practice steps with you and confirm with them that you are practicing, not just dancing.
